Travel Day
Yá’át’ééh, Can I just say that it’s been the most rewarding experience and I am so excited to be apart of the CRIRE program! It’s been such a long day traveling and the combination of winding roads in a bus (my first time traveling in a bus of that size) had my tummy doing backflips. The stops along the way helped tons; the environment is so lush and green, I’d forget about my stomach. The land makes me so jealous and I wish could take home the some of the green back to the Navajo homeland. We are in serious desperation to remedy the land due to overgrazing and the lack of a healthy hydrological cycle: the Navajo Nation is considered an arid desert region. Aside from the jealousy, I am amazed at how rich the land is in biomass but overall, the restaurant above 10,000 feet and the walk up the mountain (forget the name) were my fave locations we visited. The restaurant had a variety of flowers and hummingbirds (so pretty, check out the photos): the owner was very hospitable and he
